A Finish and Sloopy Joes

Well Dave has been working in Dallas this week. He gets home tonight for a couple of days then leaves for a couple of weeks to work in London. That guy has quite the life!
The girls and I seem to find things to keep us busy while he's gone-Laura with work,Linnie finishing school and me puttering around the house, bossing kids and stitching when I get the chance.
I finished one of my four samplers for my kitchen while he was gone. Love how it turned out ! All set up to start the next one-the pear-keeps my mind busy while he's away.
When he was home last week I had found this recipe for sloopy joes on one of the blogs I read and decided to give it a go-it was really good and we all decided it was a keeper. I love the crockpot! Love to put something in it and not worry about it till dinnertime!
Not much else going on here-I know the next few days will be busy running errands and such getting him ready for London- then stitching time again! Hopefully the time will pass fast!
Crock Pot Sloppy Joes

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 cup cooked, chopped bacon
1 small onion, diced finely
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp prepared mustard
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Buns, toasted
1.  In a large frying pan, over medium high heat, cook beef and onion until meat is completely cooked through and onions are soft.  Transfer mixture to the bowl of your crockpot. Add garlic, tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, lemon juice, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, salt, and pepper.  Stir till completely combined and incorporated.

2. Cover and cook on low 5-6 hours.  Serve on toasted buns with your favorite cheese (we love Havarti).  Enjoy!
